Site Reliability Engineer – Compute Systems & Network (f/m/d)Location: Munich, Madrid or Remote within the EUEmployment: Permanent | Full-timeAbout The RoleOur client is a leading European cloud infrastructure and technology provider offering scalable cloud services across the full infrastructure spectrum — from virtual machines and compute services to object storage and advanced networking solutions.As part of the continued expansion of its infrastructure platform, our client is looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join a highly skilled, international engineering team distributed across Europe.In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the availability, scalability, performance and security of a large-scale cloud platform.The position focuses on the design, development and operation of core infrastructure systems, including operating systems, hypervisors, networking and security layers.Your ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and maintain operating systems and hypervisor fleets, from Linux kernels and network stacks to security filtering layers Contribute to routing, networking and security automation Help shape the operating system and infrastructure image strategy, from bare metal systems to virtual machines Maintain and improve system container runtimes Develop and enhance provisioning and deployment systems Improve the performance and scalability of bare-metal and hypervisor environments Contribute to the architecture and technical design of the overall cloud platform Develop and improve internal infrastructure tooling Build highly available and scalable systems and processes supporting strong service-level commitments Participate in code and infrastructure change reviews Take part in an on-call rotation following an appropriate onboarding and training period Your ProfileYou bring strong experience in Linux-based infrastructure and enjoy working close to the underlying systems and technologies.Ideally, You HaveSolid experience with Linux, Linux kernel and systemd Experience with KVM virtualization Strong knowledge of network routing, transport protocols and network encapsulation Good knowledge of eBPF Experience with container runtimes Strong programming skills in Go/Golang and Python Familiarity with server hardware and bare-metal environments Experience with configuration management and large-scale infrastructure A strong automation mindset and a passion for eliminating manual processes A structured approach to documentation and knowledge sharing Curiosity and a willingness to continuously learn new technologies The ability to work independently while being a strong team player in a distributed international environment Very good written and spoken English What Our Client OffersFlexible working hours and a high degree of remote flexibility The opportunity to work remotely from anywhere within the EU A high level of autonomy and freedom to shape technical solutions An international, collaborative engineering environment The opportunity to work with highly skilled engineers on complex cloud infrastructure challenges Modern working conditions and well-connected office locations in Munich and Madrid Regular team events and opportunities for professional development and training If you are passionate about Linux, cloud infrastructure, networking and highly scalable systems, and want to work on technically challenging infrastructure at scale, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
