The work is technically interesting because it combines complex business logic, long-lived enterprise software and the need to keep improving how we build and deliver functionality.Most of the current product logic is written in APL, while we are increasing our use of C#/.NET and AI in new development, integrations, cloud enablement, and platform modernization. You do not need prior APL experience. We will provide training and support and we are looking for someone who is curious enough to learn what is needed while bringing solid engineering practices from C#/.NET.You will work with experienced engineers across locations and have room to contribute to how we build, modernize and evolve the product.What You Will Be Responsible ForAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will help the team build reliable, maintainable and well-tested backend solutions. In practice, you will:Design, implement, test and maintain backend functionality using APL and, where relevant, C#/.NETContribute to component design, code quality, performance and long-term maintainabilityWork closely with product managers, engineers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver client-relevant functionalityImprove reliability and delivery through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD and pragmatic engineering practicesInvestigate technical issues, performance bottlenecks and bugs and help design sustainable solutionsShare knowledge with colleagues and contribute to technical discussions within the teamUse Git-based workflows and work effectively in a continuous integration environment.What We Are Looking ForBachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, or a related field.Solid engineering fundamentals: object-oriented design, architecture patterns, clean code, and pragmatic problem solvingSolid experience in C#/.NET (Core/Framework) and building backend systems (APIs, services, integrations). Familiarity with APIs (REST/streaming patterns) and messaging concepts (e.g., service bus patterns). Experience with Azure or cloud-based development is an advantage, but not a prerequisite Experience with automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and Git-based workflows. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to work with complex business logic and collaborate with both technical and non-technical colleagues .APL READINESSYou don’t need prior APL experience. What matters is curiosity and willingness to learn. We provide training and a supportive environment to help you succeed, and SimCorp partly owns Dyalog APL, helping ensure the language remains actively maintained and relevant.NICE-TO-HAVEFinTech / regulated-industry experience. Exposure to vector-based or functional languages (helpful for ramping up in APL).Experience with Azure services or cloud-based development.Experience mentoring other engineers or taking ownership of a component.
