You will join BEC's Payments domain, where we are responsible for supporting, developing and modernising critical payment solutions used by banks. Our teams work across Poland and Denmark and contribute to both the stable operation of existing payment systems and the development of future payment infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work with business-critical international payment solutions while combining mainframe expertise with modernisation initiatives.Primary tasks and responsibilities include: Collaborating closely with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners and Team Architects. Supporting the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of business-critical payment systems. Developing and modernising COBOL-based payment solutions. Performing technical analysis, solution design, testing and implementation of user stories and defect fixes. Troubleshooting issues, resolving defects and supporting test activities. Refining user stories and evaluating technical feasibility and solution design. To succeed you will have: Hands-on experience with COBOL, CICS, IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz), MQ, DB2, JCL, Git, Bitbucket, Jira and ServiceNow. Have solid hands-on experience as a COBOL software engineer working with business-critical systems Experience working with complex, business-critical systems on the mainframe. Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion. Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges. Strong collaboration skills, including knowledge sharing and working effectively across cross-functional teams. Fluency in written and spoken English. A university degree, ideally in information technology, computer science or a related discipline. It's nice-to-have: Experience from the financial sector, preferably within payments. Knowledge of payment platforms and payment flows, including international payments. Experience with Java development. Experience with test automation. Knowledge of microservice architecture.
