Senior Data Scientist & Content Lead – Transaction Monitoring DetectionLocation: Utrecht, Netherlands (Hybrid – 2 days per week on-site)Hours: Full-time (40 hours)Industry: Banking | Financial Crime | Data ScienceMake a Real Impact on Financial Crime DetectionRabobank is looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist & Content Lead to help shape the future of Transaction Monitoring (TM) Detection within its Wholesale & Rural (W&R) business.This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on data science with technical leadership, driving the development of advanced detection models that help combat money laundering and terrorist financing. Working at the intersection of data, AI, and financial crime prevention, you'll influence strategy, mentor senior data scientists, and play a key role in evolving Rabobank's detection capabilities.The RoleAs the technical content lead for Transaction Monitoring Detection, you will take ownership of the technical direction, quality, and evolution of detection models used to identify suspicious financial activity.Although this is a non-managerial position, you will provide technical leadership across multiple squads, coach senior data scientists, and represent your domain at leadership level. You will also be a member of the Sub Area Leadership Team (SALT), contributing to strategic planning, prioritisation, and organisational development.Working closely with Data Scientists, Solution Architects, DevOps Engineers, Product Owners, Analytics Translators and senior business stakeholders, you'll ensure robust, scalable and future-proof detection capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the technical strategy for Transaction Monitoring Detection within Wholesale & Rural.Drive the migration of multiple business locations onto the latest detection models.Own and continuously improve large parts of the transaction monitoring detection logic.Introduce advanced analytics including Machine Learning and Network Analytics into production.Collaborate with IT, Architecture and Financial Economic Crime (FEC) teams to deliver production-ready solutions.Coach and mentor senior Data Scientists, raising technical standards across the organisation.Promote best practices in MLOps, software engineering and model lifecycle management.Organise knowledge-sharing initiatives, hackathons and technical coaching sessions.Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and fellow technical leaders.Contribute to long-term strategy and prioritisation as part of the Sub Area Leadership Team.About YouYou are an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex analytical challenges while helping others grow.
