Freelance Strategy Manager – FinTechContract Position | Hybrid (2 days per week in office) | Start Date: 1 August | 9-Month Initial Contract (Potential Extension) - Independent ContractorRate: €123 per hour + VATAbout the OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced Strategy Manager to join a leading global FinTech and payments organization. This is a high-impact role working closely with VP and SVP-level leadership to shape strategic priorities across a business that processes billions in payment transactions annually. The successful candidate will own critical strategy workstreams, develop investment cases, evaluate emerging opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations that influence executive decision-making.The RoleAs Strategy Manager, you will tackle complex strategic challenges across the FinTech and payments ecosystem. You will combine structured problem-solving, market insight, financial analysis, and stakeholder collaboration to help define the future direction of the business.You will work cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Finance, Legal, and senior leadership teams to identify opportunities, evaluate risks, shape new capabilities, and operationalize strategic initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Development & Problem SolvingLead projects addressing complex, open-ended strategic business challenges.Structure ambiguous problems into clear workstreams and actionable recommendations.Develop business cases, opportunity assessments, and investment proposals.Present concise, data-driven narratives to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.Support strategic decision-making through rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis.Market & Industry AnalysisAssess emerging trends within payments, financial services, fintech, and related industries.Conduct competitor analysis and evaluate market opportunities, including new domains such as digital assets, stablecoins, and evolving payment technologies.Monitor regulatory developments and assess their commercial and strategic implications.Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and industry innovation.Product & Commercial StrategyIdentify opportunities to reduce friction in customer payment experiences.Partner with product and commercial teams to evaluate and shape new FinTech products and services.Support monetization strategies, pricing initiatives, and commercial optimization efforts.Provide strategic recommendations grounded in internal and external data.Execution & Stakeholder ManagementTranslate strategic priorities into operational plans and execution roadmaps.Align objectives, KPIs, and success metrics across stakeholder groups.Collaborate closely with commercial, product, finance, legal, and leadership teams.Monitor progress against strategic priorities and recommend course corrections when required.What We're Looking ForEssential Experience7–10 years' experience in strategy consulting and/or in-house corporate strategy roles.Management consulting background from a leading consultancy (McKinsey, BCG, Bain preferred; Big Four strategy experience also considered).Strong experience solving complex business challenges using structured, data-driven approaches.Experience developing business cases, opportunity sizing, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive outcomes in matrixed organizations.FinTech & Payments ExpertiseStrong understanding of payments, fintech, financial services, and payment ecosystems.Ability to understand payment flows, commercial economics, and key industry participants.Experience assessing regulatory, competitive, and market forces within the financial services sector.Banking experience may be considered where there is direct exposure to payments or fintech-related domains.Core CompetenciesExceptional problem structuring and analytical thinking.Ability to create clarity and direction in highly ambiguous situations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong storytelling ability, including creating concise executive-level presentations.Collaborative stakeholder management across multiple business functions.Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving, and high-pressure environments.Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong commercial awareness.Why Apply?Work on strategic initiatives that shape the future of a large-scale FinTech business.Gain exposure to executive leadership and high-profile decision-making.Influence innovation across payments, financial services, customer experience, and emerging technologies.Join a collaborative environment where strategy directly drives business outcomes.Application InformationContract Type: Independent ContractorLocation: Hybrid (2 days per week in office)Start Date: 1 August (earlier availability advantageous)Duration: Initial 9-month contract with potential extensionRate: €123 per hour + VATIf you are a strategic thinker with strong FinTech expertise, exceptional problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders, we'd love to hear from you.
