Preferred starting date: ASAPWeekly availability: Full-time (5 days/week)Location: Aerospace Innovation Hub, Delft, the NetherlandsAbout The CompanyFiducial is a young but fast-growing deep-tech start-up with big ambitions at the frontier of autonomy, perception, and defence. Our core expertise lies in 3D vision and graphics technologies which we deploy in a dual-use context for inspection and defence. This role will focus mainly on the defence context, where we are developing software for advanced on-board UAV situational awareness in military applications. Our solutions are aimed to operate with low-cost and widely available sensors and compute. From there, we plan to develop a line-up of interconnected solutions to safeguard European safety. Our team consists of engineers who are passionate about the technology and solutions they develop. The only time most of us are not thinking about the technology is when we are asleep — and sometimes even then. Our team members have backgrounds in fields such as Aerospace Engineering, Computational Science and Engineering, Robotics, and Computer Graphics. Our office is located in the Aerospace Innovation Hub, a start-up hub on the TU Delft campus in the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering. We work closely with top-tier partners, ranging from government agencies and prime contractors to academic research institutes and other start-ups. Our projects span from large tender orders in collaboration with partners to low-TRL research with government agencies. Whether through formal R&D programs or rapid prototyping tracks, we operate at the intersection of innovation and deployment.Your roleAs IT Infrastructure & Security Engineer at Fiducial, you will be the person who makes sure our technology — and the people building it — can operate securely, reliably, and without friction, whether that's a laptop for a new hire, a cloud environment for the dev team, or the deployment pipeline that gets our software onto a UAV in the field. This is a broad, hands-on role for someone who takes ownership rather than waits for a ticket. You'll move fluidly between day-to-day IT operations, security policy and hardening, and infrastructure/deployment engineering — picking up whatever tools and skills the problem in front of you requires. In a defence-adjacent start-up, the person in this seat isn't just keeping the lights on; you're building the operational backbone that lets a small team ship high-stakes software fast, safely, and reliably. We're not looking for someone who already has a checklist of tools memorised — we're looking for someone with the judgment, curiosity, and grit to figure out the right tool, learn it, and own it.Your Responsibilities Will Include General IT operations — provisioning and maintaining devices, accounts, and access; onboarding/offboarding; vendor and license management; being the go-to person when something technical breaks. Security ownership — defining and continuously improving IT security policy, access controls, and risk assessments across cloud, on-premise, and edge-deployment environments. Given our defence context, this is a first-class responsibility, not an afterthought. Infrastructure & deployment pipelines — building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and the hybrid cloud / on-premise / edge infrastructure that gets our software from code to field-deployed reality, with speed and scalability in mind. Monitoring & reliability — setting up logging, monitoring, and alerting so the team knows about problems before they become incidents. Network & on-premise administration — maintaining secure, scalable connectivity between our office, cloud environments, and field-deployment operations. What We Expect From You A generalist mindset: comfortable moving between IT operations, security, and infrastructure engineering rather than specialising narrowly in one. Solid grounding in Linux-based systems, Docker/containers, and scripting (Python, Bash) — with the ability to pick up new platforms and tools as needed (e.g., Kubernetes, Azure or other cloud platforms, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or ArgoCD, monitoring stacks such as Prometheus/Grafana/ELK/Loki). A genuine interest in security — you think about risk and access control by default, and you're keen to build real expertise here, whether or not you already have it. Familiarity with network administration and on-premise IT infrastructure. High degree of autonomy, ownership, and problem-solving grit — you enjoy making complex systems work smoothly, and you don't wait to be told what to fix. Strong collaboration and communication skills, working closely with developers, engineers, and (where relevant) external partners. Full-time availability (40 hours per week). Nice to have: prior exposure to defence, aerospace, or other high-compliance/high-stakes environments. What we offer Money, of course. 25 vacation days per year. Reimbursed travel expenses and a company laptop. (Really) flexible working hours, with the option to work from home 2 days per week (when not abroad). Working in an international, world-class team of engineers and entrepreneurs solving real-life problems with amazing technology. Large freedom in how you work and implement solutions — project ownership is incredibly important to us. Responsibility over the things you implement — you are the expert on what you build. The application procedureIf after reading the above you are convinced you are the right person for the job, send us some information about yourself.
