This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable backend services and APIs that support core business applications. Day-to-day tasks include building and optimizing server-side logic, integrating with databases and third-party services, reviewing code, and ensuring high performance and security of backend systems. The Senior Backend Engineer collaborates closely with front-end engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions. This position also involves mentoring team members, contributing to architectural decisions, and improving development processes and tooling.Qualifications Strong skills in Back-End Web Development and general Programming, with experience building and maintaining scalable, secure services.Proficiency in Software Development practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and continuous integration.Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns for building maintainable systems.Ability to collaborate with Front-End Development teams, integrating APIs and ensuring seamless end-to-end user experiences.Experience with modern backend frameworks and languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python, Node.js or similar).Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling.Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.Understanding of security best practices, performance optimization, and monitoring of production systems.Ability to work on-site in the Berlin Metropolitan Area, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and mentor less experienced engineers.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
