This role sits at the heart of that transformation.As Portfolio Architect you will own the end-to-end architectural vision for Basware’s product portfolio. You will bridge product strategy, engineering delivery, data and AI innovation — ensuring that our platform evolves coherently, scalably, and with AI-first thinking embedded from the ground up.You will report into senior technology leadership and work in close partnership with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to set technical direction, govern architectural standards, and accelerate the adoption of LLMs, agentic systems, and ML pipelines across the portfolio.What You'll DoArchitecture LeadershipDefine and evolve the portfolio-level technical architecture across Basware’s product suite, ensuring coherence, scalability, and strategic alignmentSet architectural review processes for AI and set engineering standards that span teams and productsIdentify architectural risk, technical debt, and opportunities for platform consolidation.AI/ML Platform StrategyLead architectural decisions across LLMs, agentic workflows, vector stores, RAG pipelines, and ML inference infrastructureDefine the approach for integrating AI capabilities into core product flows — from document intelligence to autonomous process automationEvaluate and select AI tooling and frameworks; build the internal knowledge base around responsible experimentation and production readiness.MLOps & GovernanceOwn the MLOps architecture: model training pipelines, versioning, deployment, monitoring, and continuous evaluationEstablish AI governance frameworks covering model quality, explainability, bias detection, data privacy, and regulatory complianceDrive standardised approaches to model lifecycle management across product teams.Strategic PartnershipAct as a trusted technical advisor to product leadership, translating architecture decisions into roadmap impactRepresent Basware’s technical direction in customer-facing conversations, analyst briefings, and partnership discussionsMentor and elevate engineering talent across the organisation; establish communities of practice around architecture and AI.,EssentialWhat We're Looking For Proven experience as a Solution, Portfolio or Principal Architect at a $300M+ ARR SaaS companyHands-on expertise in AI/ML engineering — specifically in one or more of: LLMs, agentic systems, vector stores, RAG architectures, and ML pipelinesPractical experience with MLOps tooling and practices (e.g. MLflow, Kubeflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI, or equivalent)Demonstrable understanding of AI governance, responsible AI principles, and regulatory considerations (e.g. EU AI Act awareness)Strong track record of defining and communicating architectural vision to diverse audiences — engineers, executives, and customersDeep cloud-native architecture experience on AWS or AzureExcellent written and verbal communication in English; able to produce crisp, persuasive technical narrativesHighly Desirable Domain experience in fintech, accounts payable automation, procurement, or enterprise financial workflowsExperience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture at enterprise scaleBackground in enterprise integration patterns, event-driven architectures, and API-first designPrior experience contributing to or leading architectural governance bodies (e.g. Tech Council, Architecture Review Board)Location & Ways of Working This is a remote-first role. We are open to candidates based anywhere in Europe or on the US East Coast (broadly UTC−5 to UTC+2).
