Freelance Agentic AI Engineer - 9 month contract (extension possible) - RemoteJob Title: Agentic AI EngineerLocation: RemoteContract: Freelance / project-basedEngagement: Initial project with potential for ongoing collaborationAbout the jobWe are looking for a Freelance Agentic AI Specialist to design and build autonomous agent systems for a range of our business automation projects.The role is focused on developing agents that can independently plan tasks, use tools and APIs, retrieve and interpret information, collaborate with other agents, and execute multi-step workflows. Initial projects will include customer support, research, coding and operational workflow automation.You will work across the full agent development lifecycle, from architecture and prototyping through to testing, integration and deployment.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop autonomous agents for customer support, research, coding and workflow automationBuild agent orchestration and state-management systems using LangGraph or AutoGenDevelop tool-using agents integrating external APIs, databases and business systemsImplement MCP-based tools and integrations where appropriateBuild retrieval and knowledge capabilities using vector databases and RAGDevelop multi-agent workflows where specialised agents collaborate on complex tasksIntegrate OpenAI APIs and other LLM capabilities into production workflowsDesign agent memory, context, task planning and decision-making mechanismsTest and evaluate agent reliability, tool usage and task completionDevelop reusable agent architectures and components that can be applied across multiple projectsWhat you need:Strong Python development experienceProven experience building and deploying autonomous AI agentsHands-on experience with LangGraph, CrewAI and/or AutoGenStrong understanding of OpenAI APIs, tool/function calling and agent orchestrationExperience with MCP (Model Context Protocol)Experience working with vector databases and retrieval systemsUnderstanding of multi-agent architectures, RAG, agent memory and state managementStrong API integration and software engineering skillsAble to take an ambiguous business problem and turn it into a working agent-based solutionExperience delivering production-quality systems rather than experimental prototypesStrong communication skills and comfortable working independently on freelance projectsIf this is you, apply below or get in contact with - matt.macdonald@g2recruitment.com
