DescriptionDo you want to join a fintech company where you can help build a scalable and transparent data environment?Ohpen is looking for a Data Governance & Data Management Engineer to join our Data team.In this role, you will play a key role in improving how data is defined, managed, and governed across our platform, working closely with both technical teams and business stakeholders at our beautiful office in Amsterdam.BriefingDrive data governance and platform development:You’ll design, implement, and improve our data governance platform, including metadata, lineage, and data definitions. You will actively populate and maintain governance artifacts, leveraging modern tooling and AI-assisted solutions to reflect the current state of our platform.Support client implementations:Act as a subject matter expert in data governance during client implementations and discovery phases. You’ll help ensure data structures and flows are scalable, transparent, and well-governed, while engaging directly with clients on topics such as data lineage, lifecycle management, and data quality.Contribute to our data platform:As part of the Data team, you’ll contribute to the development of our data lake, expanding data products, and unlocking new data sources. You’ll help deliver high-quality, near real-time data while maintaining consistency across the platform.Strengthen data modeling and stewardship:You’ll facilitate data stewardship practices, identify and resolve data modeling challenges, and improve data ownership, definitions, and consistency across teams.Collaborate on internal data initiatives:Work closely with cross-functional teams on key initiatives such as business key standardization, code table harmonization, data modeling governance, and API design consistency.About YouExperienceYou have 2+ years' experience with data governance, data management, or data architecture in a financial institution or similarly complex environmentYou have proficiency in Dutch and EnglishYou understand concepts such as data lineage, data lifecycle management, and data quality frameworksYou have experience working in cross-functional environments with both business and engineering stakeholdersTechnical SkillsYou have a strong technical affinity and are able to work hands-on with data systems and codebasesYou have strong skills in Python, SQL, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and cloud development (AWS)Experience with Django and Apache Airflow is a plusYou have experience with data platforms, metadata management, or data modelingYou have an interest in or experience with AI-assisted development or automationPersonal ProfileYou are able to combine strategic thinking with hands-on executionYou are a strong communicator who can engage both technical teams and business stakeholders, and you are willing to work from our office and occasionally travel to client locationsYou are proactive and structured, with a focus on driving tangible improvementsYou are comfortable operating in an evolving environment where priorities may shiftWhy us?You will be part of the Ohpen Data team, a talented and diverse group of professionals building the next generation of our data platform.
