Senior Software Engineer (.NET & Azure)Build with agents. Stay accountable for the engineering.AI tooling can generate code. Not as a replacement for engineering judgement, but as a way to help experienced engineers move faster.We are looking for a senior software engineer who can work across development, design and architecture. Someone who understands the problem before jumping into the solution and can create enough structure for both people and agents to work effectively.The role in practiceYou will work on Azure-based software solutions for customers in different industries, usually across one or two engagements at a time. One project may involve turning an early idea into a working solution. Another may require you to build within an established enterprise environment where security, integrations and maintainability are just as important as speed.You will:Translate customer questions into clear technical designs and specificationsDesign and build solutions using Azure, .NET, ASP.NET Core, APIs and relevant front-end technologiesUse tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude and Cursor as part of the engineering processReview the plans, code and tests produced by agents and intervene where technical judgement is neededExplain different approaches and trade-offs to customers and colleaguesHelp develop reusable practices for agentic software engineeringContribute to Rapid Build and other propositions that help customers move from an idea to something tangible fasterThis is consulting, so requirements may change, scope can move and different customers bring different technical landscapes. You should enjoy that variety rather than need every project to arrive fully defined.What this asks of youYou bring strong hands-on experience across software development, design and architecture. You can build software yourself, but you can also step back, structure a problem and explain why one approach makes more sense than another.We are looking for:Experience with .NET, C#, ASP.NET Core, APIs and Microsoft AzureExperience delivering software in customer or production environmentsThe ability to turn unclear requirements into workable designs and specificationsConfidence discussing technical choices with engineers, customers and other stakeholdersPractical experience with AI-assisted development toolsA willingness to experiment, challenge ideas and change your own opinion when someone has a better oneWe value people who can show how they think. You could help improve how specifications are structured, how agents divide the work and where engineers need to intervene.The team has also built an enterprise IoT platform for an energy manufacturing company, monitoring remote generator sets and processing telemetry for performance and optimisation.
