Team members work closely together, valuing collaboration, creativity, and responsibility in shaping contemporary urban environments.Role Description The Junior Urban Designer will support the design and development of urban plans and public spaces, contributing to concept development, spatial analysis, and detailed design work. Day-to-day tasks include preparing drawings and visualizations, assisting with urban research and site analysis, and helping to develop design narratives and presentations for clients and stakeholders. The role involves close collaboration with senior designers, participation in internal design reviews, and coordination with external partners such as architects, landscape architects, and engineers. The Junior Urban Designer will also help prepare project documentation and reports, ensuring that proposals align with JVST’s mission of creating warm, people-friendly environments. This is a full-time, on-site role located in The Randstad, Netherlands.Qualifications Relevant educational background in Urban Design, Urban Planning, Architecture, or a closely related field.Proficiency in design and visualization tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit or similar CAD tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and preferably GIS or 3D modeling software).Strong analytical and research skills for site analysis, urban studies, and understanding social, spatial, and environmental context.Ability to develop clear design concepts, translate ideas into plans and drawings, and produce compelling visual and written presentations.Solid communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders.Interest in human-centered, community-oriented urban design and familiarity with contemporary urban planning and sustainability principles.Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and take responsibility in a fast-paced project environment.Professional proficiency in English; Dutch language skills are an advantage.Eligibility to work on-site in the Netherlands and availability for full-time employment.
