Senior Android EngineerLeading travel ecommerce retailer require a Senior Android Developer you will expand the reach and impact of two mobile experiences in the Android app. You will be working closely with native mobile teams within app frameworks to make it easier for the 8.5M people who open our apps everyday to protect their car rentals and add flexibility to their stays. With a talented team of UX designers, app developers, and data analysts, you will create a seamless mobile app customer experience to increase engagement.ResponsibleBuild new features end to end, collaborating across the stack with Android, iOS and Backend engineers in our fellow Insurance teams and with the wider engineering community.Own technical decisions and lead architectural discussions, backing your designs with clear documentation (RFCs, ADRs, design docs).Ensure the utmost high quality of the app in production, by monitoring crashes, firefighting incidents, solving complex bugs, and leading incident investigation.Identify, foster, and proactively help colleagues grow professionally, taking a significant role in on-boarding new team members;Continuously improve services you own making them more performant, and utilising resources in the most optimised way;Ensure that the Insurance product and new features are always kept up-to-date with the latest technology standards and department guidelines.Ensure that service-level-agreements for test coverage and quality are met by implementing tests and processes.Perform profiling to find bottlenecks and optimize performance, and ensure that performance metrics are set up and monitored for app health.Able to connect business and product goals to complex technical tasks.Solve issues prioritizing based on customer impact.Collaborate with app developers, backend developers, product owners, and quality specialists, to constantly improve customer experience within the app platform.SkillsWe expect our developers to know the ins and outs of the Android framework and to deliver polished products that customers want to use. We need self-starters who are great at solving problems, initiate solutions and discussions and are not afraid of solving challenges due to our large scale.Must have6+ years of experience as an Android Developer, with Kotlin as your primary languageStrong, hands-on experience building production UI with Jetpack ComposeDeep understanding of Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, including structured concurrency, cancellation, threading and testing of async codeExperience with modern Android architecture (MVVM/MVI, Jetpack ViewModel, Navigation) and dependency injection (Hilt/Dagger)Extensive experience writing tests: unit, UI (Compose / Espresso) and screenshot testsStrong knowledge of full stack engineering and backend software conceptsExperience designing and evolving API contracts between apps and backend servicesExperience with multi-module Gradle projectsExcellent degree of communication skills - Being able to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersExperience profiling Android apps (Android Studio Profiler, Baseline Profiles, Macrobenchmark)Experience with A/B testing and release planningFully comfortable working in English, both in writing and spokenThis contract requires 2 days per week in the Amsterdam office for an initial 12 month contract, offering 130 EURO per hour.
