Nextue is looking for a senior software engineer who wants to do more than just deliver tickets.We build and implement our own insurance software platform on Salesforce for brokers and underwriting companies. Despite the platform, this is not a typical Salesforce consultancy role: much of our engineering is code-driven and involves complex business logic, data models, integrations and long-lived customer applications.We are looking for someone who can initially join us as a strong hands-on senior engineer and progressively become a technical authority within the engineering team.What you’ll work onYou’ll work across our shared Nextue Platform and customer implementations.The engineering landscape includes:object-oriented backend development — Apex is close to Java in many respects;JavaScript-based frontend development;complex relational data models;APIs and integrations with external systems;automated testing and software quality;CI/CD and engineering automation;architecture and technical design;increasingly AI-assisted development and code review.Previous Salesforce experience is useful, but not a requirement.We are more interested in whether you are a strong software engineer who can understand a complex application and learn a new technology platform quickly.A background in Java, C#, Kotlin or another strongly typed backend environment can therefore be highly relevant.What we’re looking forYou should be comfortable:designing and building substantial software functionality yourself;reasoning about data models and complex business rules;moving between backend, frontend and integrations;reviewing code and improving the work of other engineers;decomposing larger problems into sensible technical solutions;taking responsibility for software quality, not handing it over to QA;learning a complex business domain;using modern AI development tools while remaining accountable for the quality of the result.You don't need to arrive knowing the insurance industry. You do need to be curious enough to understand why the software works the way it does.More than an individual contributorThis role is particularly interesting for someone who enjoys remaining hands-on but also wants increasing technical ownership.Over time, we want you to become one of the people developers turn to for technical decisions, solution design and code quality — while our founder increasingly focuses on platform architecture, innovation and strategic technical direction.This is not an Engineering Manager position. We expect you to keep building software.How we workNextue is a small engineering company with substantial live software, long-term customers and a growing shared platform.AI-assisted engineering is already part of how we work and we expect that to increase significantly. We are interested in engineers who use AI to become better and faster — not engineers who outsource their judgment to it.For this particular role, working together in person matters. Our office is in Oud-Beijerland, and we are looking for someone who can work from the office regularly, particularly while learning the platform and taking on technical ownership.Some flexibility to work from home is possible, but this is not a remote-first role.What we offerPermanent employment with Nextue.
