We are adding a Junior Prompt Engineer to our team to support an ongoing project with our partner, a Berlin-based technology firm. In this role, you will help us bridge the gap between human instructions and software systems. Most of our work involves building internal tools that manage large amounts of data, and we are currently working on ways to help these systems process information more efficiently using large language models. This is a full-time, fully remote position where you will focus on the practical application of AI in a business environment. About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small, remote software agency. We do not build flashy consumer apps or chase the latest industry trends just for the sake of it. Instead, we focus on the practical systems that teams use every day to keep their businesses running: admin panels, CRM integrations, and database management tools. Our clients come to us when their existing spreadsheets have become too complex or when their software tools refuse to communicate with each other. We provide fixed-price quotes, perform weekly demos, and hand over every piece of code and documentation when we finish a project. We value stable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because they produce reliable software that is easy to maintain over the long term. The Role As a Junior Prompt Engineer, you will be working with our development team to refine how our applications interact with AI models. This is not about creative writing or generating marketing copy. Your focus will be on getting these models to produce structured, predictable data that our software can use. You will spend your time testing different ways to phrase instructions, checking the accuracy of the information returned, and finding ways to reduce errors. This is a paid position, and the compensation is competitive for a junior-level role in the current market. You will work from home, collaborating with a senior team that prefers clear communication and working code over long meetings and complex plans. What you will be doing Testing various instructions to see which ones generate the most reliable results from language models. Running repetitive tests to ensure that the AI outputs remain consistent over time. Documenting the specific phrases and logic that lead to successful data extraction. Helping the developers format AI responses so they can be stored directly in a Postgres database. Reviewing model outputs for accuracy and identifying where the logic might be failing. Working with the team to identify which business tasks are good candidates for AI and which ones are not. Comparing different versions of models to see which one provides the best value for specific client needs. What we are looking for A logical and methodical approach to solving problems and testing ideas. Clear writing skills in English, with the ability to explain complex tasks simply. An interest in how software systems process and organize information. Basic knowledge of how data is structured in formats like JSON or simple tables. The ability to stay organized while managing multiple versions of different prompts and tests. A preference for straightforward, functional work over flashy or experimental projects. Comfort working in a remote setting where you manage your own daily schedule. Helpful background Experience using public AI interfaces for research, coding help, or personal projects. Basic familiarity with GitHub or other version control tools. Some exposure to web technologies like Node or React, even if only through short courses. Experience in a role that required high attention to detail, such as data entry or quality testing. A general understanding of how APIs work to move data between different pieces of software. Working at Pixel Systems Working here means focusing on the work itself. We are a small team with no management layers, which means you will have direct access to the senior engineers building the core of our projects. We value clarity and honesty, especially when something is not working as expected. Our culture is built around remote work: we communicate mostly through text and short video walkthroughs, and we respect everyone's time by avoiding unnecessary meetings. We build tools that help real people, like warehouse managers and operations teams, do their jobs with less frustration. If you enjoy solving practical problems and shipping software that actually gets used, you will find a good home at Pixel Systems. We believe that building a reliable system is more important than being the first to use a new technology. We look for people who are curious, who ask questions when they are stuck, and who take pride in creating documentation that others can actually understand. As a junior member of the team, you will have the chance to see how professional software is built from the ground up, all while working in a stable, no-drama environment.
