Suitsupply recently launched a new global headless storefront on Shopify Hydrogen, replacing its legacy platform. It’s TypeScript-first, serves 26+ countries and multiple languages, and lives inside a monorepo shared with other customer-facing applications. The platform is young and the technical direction is still being defined. We’re looking for a Tech Lead Shopify to own the technical vision for this platform. You won’t just write code. You’ll decide how the storefront evolves, set the standards the team works by, and be accountable for the quality and scalability of what ships. You’ll lead a team of frontend engineers and work closely with a product manager and designer. This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be deep in the code while also making the architectural calls that shape the platform for years to come.What you will do:Define and own the technical architecture of the storefront across markets, languages, and devicesLead a team of frontend engineers through architectural decisions, code reviews, pairing, and hands-on guidanceMake the call on technology choices, patterns, and trade-offs, and communicate the reasoning to the team and stakeholdersBalance delivery velocity with technical health. Proactively manage technical debt and know when to invest in itOwn the integration strategy, from Shopify’s APIs and UI Extensions to Sanity CMS and third-party systems for payments and logisticsDefine the testing strategy alongside QA engineers, covering unit, integration, and end-to-end coverageSet and continuously raise the bar for performance, accessibility, security, and reliabilityDrive the frontend chapter, establishing shared standards for development practices, monitoring, and ways of working that extend beyond your own teamWho you are:You have 5+ years of experience building production web applications in Shopify with React and TypeScript in Next.JS of which 1+ year as Tech LeadYou think in systems. You can design component architectures, integration patterns, and data flows that scale across markets and teamsYou’re experienced with headless commerce and fluent in the technologies around it: GraphQL, headless CMS integration, and monorepo-scale development. Shopify Hydrogen is ideal, but deep experience with other platforms countsYou’ve solved real problems around multi-market e-commerce, web performance, production observability, and security at scale, not just implemented patterns others definedYou hold yourself and your team to a high standard. You care about code quality, developer experience, and building a culture of ownershipYou communicate effectively across the organization, from engineers to leadership, and can translate technical trade-offs into business termsBroader knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem, such as Functions and app development, is a plus.
