Join an international technology leader and work with major aviation partners to turn an innovative proof of concept into reliable, product-quality software for ESA’s ground infrastructure. Solve complex networking challenges, validate new ideas through prototypes, and benefit from flexible working arrangements with a strong focus on work–life balance.Main ResponsibilitiesEvolve the existing proof of concept into reliable, secure, observable, and maintainable product software.Design and implement event-driven network services, protocol handlers, and state-machine logic.Translate RFCs and aviation or networking specifications into traceable implementations and automated unit tests.Integrate software with network devices and services using IPv4/IPv6, UDP/TCP, NETCONF, SNMP, SSH, and gRPC.Contribute to architecture, code reviews, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, packaging, and technical documentation.Diagnose complex issues in Linux and containerized environments.Collaborate with testers, system engineers, and international aviation partners.Technical Skills & CompetenciesAt least three years of relevant professional software-development experience, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.Strong proficiency in Python or a comparable high-level language, with the ability to become productive in Python quickly.Experience developing event-driven, asynchronous, or concurrent software.Solid hands-on networking knowledge, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP, UDP, routing, and diagnosing protocol or traffic issues using tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.Ability to understand complex technical standards and turn them into clear, maintainable, and tested code.Practical Linux experience, including package installation, virtual machines, networking, and troubleshooting.Experience with Git-based workflows, automated unit testing, and collaborative code reviews.Good technical English and the ability to work effectively in an international team.Special Skills & AbilitiesScripting and automation in Linux environments.Experience with OCI containers, Docker or Podman, Compose, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.Knowledge of NETCONF, SNMP, gRPC, SSH, LISP, raw sockets, or binary protocol implementation.Experience productizing prototypes or developing high-availability, networking, aviation, or other mission-critical systems.Familiarity with specification-driven and responsible AI-assisted development.Experience working in a Scrum team and using Jira or a comparable work-management tool.Experience with development in aviation, telecommunications or other mission-critical systems.
