At MSIG Specialty Marine, we operate in a specialist and increasingly data-driven insurance environment where strong underwriting insight, effective portfolio management and high-quality data are critical to how we make decisions and grow our business.As we continue to strengthen our technology, data and operating capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our Change & Transformation team.This role will support strategic initiatives across areas including Underwriting, Exposure Management, Technical Pricing, Portfolio Management and Operations, helping us improve how our people, processes, data and technology work together.It is an opportunity to work at the heart of business change within an international specialist insurer, partnering with senior stakeholders and technology teams to translate complex business needs into practical, sustainable solutions.The RoleAs Business Analyst, you will be a key connection point between our business, technology teams and external partners.You will build a strong understanding of how our business operates today, identify where we can improve, and help define what the future should look like. This will involve everything from requirements gathering and process redesign to data analysis, solution implementation and business readiness.You will work across multiple initiatives and stakeholder groups, bringing structure to complex challenges and ensuring solutions are designed around genuine business outcomes.Ultimately, your work will help us create better processes, stronger data, more effective systems and better-informed decision-making across MSIG Specialty Marine.What You’ll Be DoingBusiness Analysis & RequirementsPartner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, challenges, processes and opportunities for improvement.Elicit, analyse, document and validate business, functional, non-functional and data requirements.Translate complex business needs into clear requirements that technology teams and delivery partners can act upon.Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and stakeholder discussions to establish requirements, priorities and desired outcomes.Develop clear process maps, user journeys, business requirements and supporting documentation.Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the change lifecycle.Challenge assumptions constructively and ensure solutions address the underlying business need, rather than simply replicating existing processes.Process Improvement & Target Operating ModelsAssess current processes and operating models to identify inefficiencies, control gaps and opportunities for simplification.Design and document future-state processes and support the development of target operating models.Contribute to business process re-engineering initiatives across underwriting and supporting functions.Identify opportunities to automate, standardise and improve workflows.Help ensure new processes are practical, scalable and aligned with the wider strategic direction of the business.Underwriting, Exposure & Portfolio DataDevelop a strong understanding of the data supporting our underwriting, exposure management, technical pricing and portfolio management activities.Support data mapping, data lineage, data quality and data governance initiatives.Work with stakeholders to define business rules, data requirements and appropriate ownership and controls.Help shape solutions that improve portfolio visibility, exposure oversight and underwriting decision-making.Support the development of management information, reporting and analytical requirements.Work closely with business and data teams to ensure information is trusted, relevant and usable.Technology & Change DeliveryAnalyse existing systems, workflows, interfaces and dependencies and help define future requirements.Work alongside internal technology teams, solution architects and third-party vendors throughout solution design and delivery.Support the evaluation and implementation of new technology and data solutions.Contribute to testing strategies, test scenarios and business validation.Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Help identify business readiness requirements ahead of implementation.Support successful adoption through communication, training, documentation and stakeholder engagement.Project Delivery & GovernanceWork closely with Project Managers, business leaders and technology teams to support successful delivery.Maintain high-quality project and business analysis documentation.Support planning, prioritisation, status reporting and governance activities.Identify requirements-related risks, dependencies and issues and ensure these are appropriately managed.Contribute to the continuous improvement of our change and transformation practices.Help ensure initiatives remain focused on measurable business outcomes and sustainable change.What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for someone who combines strong Business Analysis fundamentals with curiosity, commercial awareness and the confidence to work with a broad range of stakeholders.Essential ExperienceApproximately 5+ years’ Business Analysis experience, ideally within insurance, financial services or another regulated environment.Demonstrable experience eliciting, documenting, analysing and managing complex business requirements.Strong process mapping, process improvement and problem-solving capability.Experience working across both business and technology teams.Experience supporting technology, data or business transformation initiatives.Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively with senior and specialist stakeholders.Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex or ambiguous business problems.Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a changing environment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Data & Analytical CapabilityExperience with data analysis, data mapping and/or data lineage.Strong understanding of how data moves between business processes and systems.Experience defining data, reporting or management information requirements.Confidence working with complex datasets and strong Microsoft Excel capability.Ability to translate detailed analysis into clear business insight and recommendations.Understanding of system implementation and change delivery principles.Insurance KnowledgeA good understanding of insurance operations and the underwriting lifecycle.Experience within specialty, commercial or marine insurance would be highly advantageous.Exposure to Underwriting, Portfolio Management, Exposure Management or Technical Pricing would be particularly valuable.Understanding of the London Market and/or European specialty insurance environment would be beneficial.DesirableExperience supporting underwriting platform, data, reporting or portfolio management transformation.Familiarity with insurance data models, databases, reporting or analytical tools.Business Analysis qualifications such as BCS, IIBA or
