About Us: Emergent is a Delft-based company dedicated to revolutionizing autonomous aerial systems for defense and emergency response. We develop and deploy software for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that enables platform-independent collaborative autonomy, and we build the Counter-UAS (C-UAS) systems that detect, track, and defeat hostile drones in denied and cluttered environments. Our technology leverages decentralized swarming algorithms and multi-sensor fusion to tackle real-world challenges at scale. We have successfully attracted significant capital and grants, and we are working with clients and strategic partners across Europe and allied countries — strong signals of market traction. Backed by experienced advisors, we offer the chance to join a 20-person team pushing the boundaries of autonomy and counter-drone defense, with real autonomy and influence over what we build. What you will do:As a UAV Robotics Engineer, with a focus on autonomy and swarming algorithms for fixed-wing UAVs, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our capabilities for autonomous and swarming flight. You will be part of a team of ten people and will have significant autonomy and influence in the decisions we make. Your self-starting capabilities will be crucial, as you will have the freedom to lead initiatives and shape the direction of our projects.Your responsibilities will involve:Developing intelligent, platform autonomy algorithms, with a focus on UAV control, avoidance, GNSS-denied and path planning algorithms.Developing intelligent, collaborative autonomy algorithms for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and manned-unmanned teaming applications.Developing software from prototype to a productized module in our Core OS.Develop advanced simulation environments for various types of UAVs.Testing, V&V and deployment of your algorithms on real-world UAV swarms. What you bring:BSc or MSc degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.2+ years of experience in a relevant field.Strong background in (aerospace) vehicle dynamics and control, sensor fusion and pose estimation.Proficiency in Linux/WSL, C++, Python and experience with ROS2 for robotics development.Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.Excellent verbal communications in English and/or Dutch.EU and/or NATO citizenship required.Nice to haves:Experience with GPU acceleration.Experience with industry standard communications links.Experience with platform autonomy algorithm design.Experience with Docker, PX4, Ardupilot.Familiarity with drone hardware and robotic systems integration. What We Offer:Competitive base salary (4000-6000 euro) with 25 vacation days.Opportunity to work on groundbreaking swarm technology with exciting applications.Collaborative and supportive work environment at our offices in Delft with opportunities for growth and learning.Full-time onsite.Work travel to EU, North-America and Ukraine.Commute compensation.Application materials (combine PDFs and submit in CV entry):CV including portfolio.Motivation letter that at least contains a description of something you have built/designed/programmed during school/uni/work or in your personal time.Sourced from LinkedIn.
