Because its projects involve high-traffic environments, developers work on technically challenging problems such as custom integrations, performance optimization, testing, and scalable software architecture.The team currently consists of two owner-developers, three permanent employees, and a flexible group of freelance developers.About the RoleStarapple is looking for an experienced WordPress Developer to join its small and highly collaborative development team.You will work on custom WordPress projects for a variety of clients, contributing to the development of scalable, maintainable, and high-performance digital products.The company follows two-week Scrum sprints, with customer requirements divided into manageable development tasks. Since the team is relatively small, you will quickly take ownership of projects and have significant freedom to design smart, sustainable technical solutions.This is an ideal opportunity for a developer who enjoys technical challenges, values clean code, and wants meaningful responsibility rather than simply following predefined instructions.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop custom WordPress solutions for high-traffic websites and platforms.Build and maintain custom WordPress plugins.Develop robust PHP-based applications and integrations.Design and implement custom integrations with external systems.Write scalable and maintainable code following established coding standards.Apply appropriate software design patterns to development projects.Write and maintain unit tests.Work on performance and reliability challenges associated with high-traffic environments.Participate in two-week Scrum development cycles.Contribute to technical discussions and solution design.Analyze project requirements and develop sustainable technical solutions.Take ownership of assigned projects and development tasks.Collaborate with other developers through daily stand-ups and Slack.Continuously improve development processes and technical solutions.What We're Looking ForAt least 5 years of relevant PHP development experience.Strong knowledge and practical experience with WordPress.Experience developing custom WordPress plugins.Knowledge of unit testing.Understanding and practical use of software Design Patterns.Strong understanding of coding standards and clean-code principles.Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Passion for technology and software development.Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a small development team.Nice to HaveExperience with Symfony.Experience working with high-traffic web environments.Experience developing custom integrations.Knowledge of performance optimization and scalable application architecture.Work EnvironmentStarapple operates as a fully remote company.
