Capandji is a Berlin-based deep-tech robotics startup developing the most advanced, anthropomorphic robotic hand in the world. As part of a consortium with Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) and Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), we are applying to the SPRIND "Next Frontier Robotics Challenge" to build high-dexterity robotic systems for real-world applications. Now we are offering open positions across both our university research partners (BHT & TUB) and our early-stage startup team at Capandji.Academic/Research Positions (TUB): Great pathway for candidates looking to pursue a PhD in robotics.Startup Positions (Capandji): Direct opportunity to shape early product architecture and scale core technologies in a fast-paced deep-tech environment.ResponsibilitiesSystem Integration: Integrate robotic arms, vision systems, and force-torque sensors with our novel robotic hand platform.Software Architecture: Develop modular software spanning robot control, perception, and communication abstraction layers.Benchmarking & Testing: Establish benchmarking setups and evaluation metrics to measure manipulation performance across real-world tasks.Real-World Validation: Conduct extensive physical manipulation experiments, analyze performance data, and contribute to overall system assembly.QualificationsBackground: Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.Core Competencies: Extensive experience in at least one of the following domains: robot control, motion planning, and object detection/segmentation.Software Skills: Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python, along with practical experience in ROS 2.Nice-to-HaveExperience in robotic grasping and in-hand manipulation (ideally with anthropomorphic hands).Background in modeling and control of non-linear mechanical systems.Experience in collecting, processing, and analyzing experimental data from real-world robot hardware.We are building a diverse and inclusive team and are seeking candidates who can start between November 13, 2026 and January 31, 2027.
