About the Role: As a Software Engineer, you will be a key player in developing and scaling the Inbox services within the SaaS Engage Platform at Sinch. You will be part of a cross-functional, autonomous team that sets its own goals and is responsible for every stage of the software development lifecycle - from design to deployment and maintenance. Your focus will be on building high-impact, scalable, and distributed backend services, ensuring reliability, performance, and extensibility. The code you develop will power critical messaging and engagement functionalities across different product lines. What You'll Do: Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Develop and maintain scalable, distributed, and event-driven microservices using Java. Optimize and improve the performance of backend services within high-throughput messaging systems. Contribute to the implementation and enhancement of APIs, messaging pipelines, and data models. Work with non-relational databases, ensuring effective data handling. Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver quality features aligned with business goals. Follow best practices to ensure scalability, security, and observability of services. Engage actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous learning to foster personal growth and team excellence. Take ownership of your tasks, embracing responsibility for the code you deliver. What We Look For: 3-5 years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in Java. Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience working with non-relational databases. Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queue systems like Kafka. Good problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to architectural decisions. Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs. Commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code. Experience using AI coding tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar, with an understanding of their benefits, risks, and best practices. Comfortable working in a collaborative, autonomous, and fast-paced team environment. Good written and spoken English communication skills. Nice to Have: Experience contributing to SaaS or cloud-native platforms. Some experience with JavaScript, TypeScript and React and eager to growth in the Full Stack path.
