You will join our Document Generation team in the Document Lifecycle Management program. The team generates and archives documents across BEC and is replacing legacy document-generation and archiving solutions with a modern SaaS platform.The Java software engineer role offers the opportunity to build modern Java services, integrate a commercial SaaS archive with mainframe and distributed systems, and shape a major modernization initiative. The team collaborates across Warsaw and Roskilde, and your direct manager will be Kamil Zych.Primary task and responsibilities include:Design and build APIs and microservices in Java 21 and newer with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven, containerized on OpenShift/Kubernetes.Develop event-driven components using Kafka and follow microservice and EDA best practices.Integrate a commercial SaaS archiving solution with existing BEC systems across mainframe and distributed applications.Collaborate in an agile team: share knowledge, participate in code reviews, and work with Jira, Git, ServiceNow and Confluence.Work closely with business architects and stakeholders in the Documents Cluster to deliver reliable, secure solutions.Occasional travel to Roskilde, Denmark to meet teammates and stakeholders. To succeed you will have: At least 5 years of hands-on experience with modern Java, REST, Spring Boot, and Maven.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.Familiarity with integrating COTS/SaaS solutions into complex enterprise environments (mainframe and distributed).Comfort with Jira, Git, and Confluence or Wiki-based documentation. An agile mindset, including translating feature descriptions into user stories and iterative delivery.A positive and supportive, cooperative approach; ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership and involving the right colleagues.Fluent English (written and spoken).It’s nice-to-have:Knowledge of the financial sector (nice to have)Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes operations and observability.Background in document archiving systems or document management platforms.Exposure to modernization projects (e.g., migrating legacy Java/EJB/JSP applications).Be your best self with BEC’s Benefits!
