GROUP OVERVIEWThe Design Services Team (DST) is SAP’s internal design consulting service providing support to the SAP Executive Management Team. The DST is part of the Office of the CEO and reports to Henning Kagermann, CEO of SAP. The DST works on design projects supporting corporate strategy, operational efficiency and organization effectiveness. Projects are typically sponsored by the Executive Board. As a part of these efforts, the DST is undertaking an initiative to research, identify, and solve complex software design problems in an innovative, highly collaborative environment. The team works directly with various Solution management and Development leads across SAP, as well as with external SAP constituents in order to further the efforts of end user-focused design at SAP.RESPONSIBILITIESMain responsibilities include the following:• Promote an end-user focused business process application design based on meeting people’s physical, cognitive, social, emotional, or cultural needs• Within design services projects, lead qualitative in-context user observations, ethnography, and interviews in an effort to understand end-user interaction and needs to drive innovative business process application design• Effectively interpret and communicate observations and results with technical and non-technical constituents with the goal of advocating an end-user focused design and development approach• Play an active role in all aspects of the design process including identification of user needs, requirements definition, storyboarding and prototyping, and iterative end user validation• Document key learnings from end user observationsIDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE• Proven track record of out-of-the-box, innovative thinking and design• Well developed end-user observation skills and proven experience in designing end-user focused software applications• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively engage and convey ideas to cross-functional technical and business solution teams • Passion for end-user focused software applications design and development with an appreciation and empathy for the entire software design process including strategy, engineering development, and production rollout• Perspectives on current software usability trends, their impact on software design and end user interaction, and their implications for the design and development of enterprise software• Psychology, anthropology, or related social science degree preferred• 2 - 5 years professional work experience in Human Factors design process • German language skills a plus, but not required• Domestic and international travel approximately 40%
