The roleWe're looking for a hands-on Senior Full-Stack Developer to build, improve, and operate features across a custom commerce platform — a Laravel (GraphQL) API and a Next.js storefront. You'll ship real, customer-facing work end to end: checkout, payments, discounts, loyalty, shipping, marketing integrations, and the background jobs that keep everything running. This is also a production-focused role. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working beyond the application layer — setting up, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting Linux servers, nginx, Cloudflare, reverse proxies, SSL/TLS, load balancing, deployments, queues, and the infrastructure required to keep a high-traffic commerce platform reliable. You should be comfortable taking ownership of a feature or production issue from the browser all the way down to the server. What you'll do- Build features end to end across the Laravel GraphQL API and Next.js storefront.- Implement and maintain core commerce logic including cart, checkout, payments, discounts, promotions, gift cards, loyalty/points, shipping, refunds, and order processing.- Build and maintain third-party integrations including Stripe, PayPal, Klaviyo, shipping/carrier APIs, Google Merchant, product feeds, and other external services.- Write background jobs, queue workers, and scheduled tasks using Laravel Horizon and Redis for synchronisation, reconciliation, notifications, imports, exports, and other asynchronous workloads.- Debug and fix issues on a live production system, with particular attention to correctness around payments, orders, inventory, and customer data.- Set up, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux production servers.- Configure and optimise nginx, including virtual hosts, reverse proxying, caching, redirects, compression, SSL/TLS, upstream services, and application routing.- Work with Cloudflare for DNS, proxying, caching, SSL, WAF/security rules, redirects, rate limiting, and diagnosing proxy or origin issues.- Configure and troubleshoot load balancers, reverse proxies, application servers, queue workers, Redis, MySQL, cron/scheduled processes, and related production services.- Investigate production performance issues across the full stack, including PHP/Laravel, Node.js/Next.js, nginx, MySQL, Redis, networking, DNS, and external APIs.- Manage and improve application deployments and CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.- Help ensure production environments are secure, observable, backed up, and recoverable.- Write clean, tested, maintainable, and reviewable code and participate in code review.- Take features from rough requirements through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.StackBackend- PHP 8.4- Laravel 12- MySQL- GraphQL using Rebing- Horizon + queues, jobs, migrations, API design, scheduled commands, caching, and application architecture.- Solid React and Next.js experience and confidence with modern JavaScript and TypeScript.- Experience designing and consuming REST and GraphQL APIs.- Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL.- Practical experience administering Linux-based web servers in production.- Strong working knowledge of nginx, including reverse proxy configurations, SSL, upstreams, routing, caching, and debugging.- Experience with Cloudflare, DNS, SSL certificates, proxying, caching, firewall/security rules, and troubleshooting origin connectivity.- Experience deploying and operating web applications on self-hosted or cloud Linux infrastructure.- Familiarity with load balancing, reverse proxies, process management, Redis, queues, cron jobs, logs, and production monitoring.- Confidence debugging issues across application code, web servers, databases, networking, DNS, queues, and external services.- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines.- Strong attention to correctness and detail, particularly when working with orders, payments, customer data, and other business-critical systems.- Good communication skills and the ability to take a feature from a rough requirement through to production.Nice to have- E-commerce and payments experience, including checkout flows, refunds, payment failures, webhooks, multi-currency, and reconciliation.- Experience with Stripe and/or PayPal integrations in production.- Klaviyo or other marketing automation, analytics, or customer-event integration experience.- Strong experience with background jobs, queue systems, Redis, caching, and search platforms such as Meilisearch or Elasticsearch.- Multi-market and internationalisation experience, including currencies, locales, taxes, and regional storefront behaviour.- Experience designing or operating highly available web infrastructure.- Experience with multiple application servers behind load balancers or reverse proxies.- Experience with server hardening, firewall configuration, SSH, systemd/process supervision, log management, monitoring, backups, rolling deployment strategies.- Experience managing Cloudflare WAF, caching strategies, rate limiting, redirects, and origin protection.- Comfort responding to and resolving production incidents involving both application code and infrastructure. What matters mostWe're looking for someone who is comfortable owning the whole path from code to production. You don't need to be a dedicated DevOps or infrastructure engineer, but you should be confident logging into a Linux server, understanding how the application is running, configuring nginx and Cloudflare, inspecting logs and processes, debugging networking or proxy issues, restarting or recovering services safely, and figuring out why something is failing in production.Likewise, you should be equally comfortable going back into Laravel or Next.js and fixing the underlying application problem.
