What you'll doTake ownership of the backend: Design APIs, shape data models, improve query performance, and make the architectural decisions that become increasingly difficult to change over time.Build and maintain asynchronous systems: Work across queues, background processes, scheduled jobs, retries, and failure handling to make sure temporary issues don't turn into prolonged outages.Own the AI infrastructure and pipelines: Support existing AI workflows and help build the next generation of features, including prompt versioning, evaluation, monitoring costs and latency, and handling model-provider failures effectively.Build reliable data pipelines: Move and transform data for reporting and analytics, giving operators a consistent and accurate view across multiple locations.Integrate with customer systems: Connect Bounti with POS, scheduling, payroll, and other third-party platforms. Build reusable integration infrastructure rather than maintaining separate solutions for every partner.Design for reliability: Implement idempotency, reconciliation, customer-level monitoring, and mechanisms for identifying discrepancies when external systems provide incorrect or unexpected data.Work directly with technical partners: Handle sandbox environments, certification requirements, API reviews, and other technical aspects of partner integrations.Create internal tools: Build tooling that helps the CS team investigate integration issues, troubleshoot failed synchronisations, and activate new integrations.Your profileYou have built and run backend systems in production and understand the long-term impact of the technical decisions you make. You naturally design for failure and eventual consistency. Retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and recovery are fundamental parts of how you approach distributed systems. You have integrated with APIs and platforms you don't control, and can talk through real examples of challenges you've encountered. You are comfortable working with external vendors and partners, whether that's a POS provider, workforce platform, or AI model provider, and understand that not everything moves at your preferred pace. You use AI coding agents while taking responsibility for the final result. We use Claude Code and Cursor every day. Writing code is only part of the job — you need to be able to assess generated code critically and ensure what reaches production is maintainable, consistent, and well designed. You are practical about architecture and scope, knowing when it's worth investing in a reusable abstraction and when it's better to keep things simple.Experience with our stack is a plus: TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres, Prisma, Kubernetes.Bonus points if you have:Experience running LLM-powered features in production, including evaluation, monitoring, and cost managementBuilt observability and monitoring for systems involving third-party dependenciesTaken an integration through a partner certification or app review process from start to finishExperience working in hospitality, retail, workforce management, or similar operational softwareSourced from LinkedIn.
